Safe working in general practice


The BMA’s England GP committee (GPCE) has generated a  guide to enable practices to prioritise safe patient care, within the present bounds of the GMS contract.

The guide includes advice on:

 

  1. Appointments
  2. Patient Participation Groups (PPGs)
  3. Measurement of workload
  4. External un-resourced workload
  5. Practice list closure
  6. Workload prioritisation
  7. PCN DES (primary care network directed enhanced service)

The LMC will be meeting will be discussing and liaising with local partners on how our member practices may like to practically consider using some of the suggested methods to ensure colleagues are working safely, whilst balancing the safety of their patients, the rising number of complaints, the increased negative media coverage against the Profession and the recently published proposal to reform general practice and enable digital healthcare at scale
