Providing support for resilience and improvement in General Practice

The Salford and Trafford LMC help with supporting local practices with development, improvement and offer support programmes to GP practices in the area. Here’s our recommended resources to help with resilience and support in your GP practice.

CQC Improvement

Salford and Trafford LMC offers a support programme to any Salford and Trafford GP practice who have received either a ‘Requires Improvement’ or ‘Inadequate’ inspection rating from CQC.

The LMC have provided support to Practices who have needed to develop and implement a CQC improvement plan in order to ensure CQC and contractual compliance.

The LMC support offer includes:

  • Advice to practice during draft process when practices are given the opportunity to submit corrections/challenge to report
  • CQC report dissection and formulation of detailed improvement plan
  • Advice on developing action plan narrative in response to CQC request and submission of evidence post CQC report publication
  • Advice on responding to Commissioners request on evidence in relation to potential contractual breaches
  • Development and delivery of GP practice listening event for all staff in order to engage and ensure team ownership of practice improvements and embedment
  • Follow-up visits to discuss progress as required
  • Offer of mock inspections pre-CQC re-inspection

Our LMC has compiled information based on the supporting evidence tables CQC have published, this along with CQC inspection reports during 2019 so far in Salford and Trafford and can be accessed via the Members Only section within our Resource Library.

Resilient GP

Resilient GP is an organisation set up to support GPs in developing working practices designed to prevent burnout and to support a highly effective primary care service that works well both for the doctors and the needs of patients. Resilient GP began from a meeting of minds in cyberspace of a group of doctors. It was clear to them that government health policy and recent GP training models were causing huge morale problems within general practice as well as a distinct lack of confidence in newly qualified GPs to know what is legitimate NHS GP work when to say, “No more”.
